Arbequina extra virgin olive oils are named for the olives that are crushed to make the oils. Hundreds of different olive varietals grow around the world. Different olives have different flavor profiles. The hearty Arbequina olive resists frost well. Arbequina, is among the best-known extra virgin Spanish varieties of olive oils. This oil is excellent due to the composition of fatty acids and the abundant presence of natural antioxidants. The virgin olive oil that comes from Arbequina is a very fresh and young oil by its composition is a little more delicate regarding its oxidation, therefore is needed to protect it to preserve its initial properties, which are so beneficial to us. Nevertheless, Arbequina olive oil, like the rest of the olive oils, has a high percentage of oleic acid, which helps to reduce the bad cholesterol (LDL) increasing the good one (HDL).
